Overcoming Copyright Barriers to Public Participation in the Environmental Decision-Making Process in Trinidad and Tobago

This essay analyzes the issue of copyright laws being used to stifle public involvement in environmental decision-making process Trinidad and Tobago. It provides a comprehensive discussion problem Environmental Management Authority (EMA), which is regulatory body Tobago (TT), attempting treat an Impact Assessment (EIA) as copyrighted. The tracks challenges faces by Fishermen Friends Sea (FFOS), local NGO, its efforts promote environmentalism. led legal challenge FFOS on issue, examined this essay. delves into fundamental principles participation/consultation articulated Parliament, EM Act, National Environment Policy, related case law. highlights critical relationship between access information participation/consultation. Moreover, in-depth analysis EIA generated accordance with Act Copyright Act. argues for importance preserving right foundation participation process.
